MARIO A. LOPEZ, CPA, Managing Partner
Mario has over 18 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, government contracting, small business accounting and finance. He has a solid background as an auditor for nonprofits that receive federal awards, support from the general public, and membership organizations. He has also served as a contracted CFO for many organizations. Mario also worked for 10 years at a top 25 regional CPA firm before joining the Berry Group. Mario is a graduate of Marymount University and has completed more than half of the MBA program with the University of Phoenix. He will be present during fieldwork, will supervise the work of the engagement manager and will be primarily responsible for every aspect of the engagement.
HECTOR S. LOPEZ, MBA, Principal
Hector worked for 17 years at a major financial services company as a financial analyst, and financial manager. He also has worked the last five years in the role of second officer. He has extensive experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and management. Hector received his MBA from George Mason University. He will perform an analytical review of the financial statements to ensure accuracy and comparability between years presented.
MALCOLM TAN, CPA, Senior Audit Manager
Malcolm has over 13 years of auditing experience in the nonprofit and government sector. He obtained his CPA in 1996 and worked as an audit manager for several years with KPMG, 3rd largest CPA firm in the U.S. and #1 government services provider in the U.S. He also worked for a top 25 regional firm for over 6 years. Malcolm will be responsible for performing fieldwork procedures and for drafting the financial statements, tax return and management letter.
GARY STEINBERG, CPA, Director of Tax Compliance
Gary has over 20 years of experience in the tax field. He worked at Price Waterhouse, a large multi-national accounting firm for several years; and at a top 25 regional CPA firm. He is currently a speaker for CPAs most popular tax seminar in the USA, Gear-UP Seminars, a division of Thompson Publishing and serves as director of tax compliance for Berry Group on a part-time basis.
